SATURDAY JULY 8th, 2006

We're off at 10 AM getting coffee, the sun is already 90° .. Itinerary for today is STAX museum, then a trek to Mississippi on Route 61, the Alan Lomax trail through endless expanses of cotton fields; the Muddy Waters land mark, grave of Sunny Boy Williamson, Delta Blues Museum, Ground Zero Blues Club - Clarksdale, Parchman Farm, Greenwood, Indianola, Tallahatchie River, the juke joint where Robert Johnson was poisoned, the grave of Robert Johnson, and back to Memphis and finally to the best gin and tonic, portabello burger, and conversation I have ever had, at the Blue Monkey.

Now a few folks know who Memphis Slim is .. and maybe, a few folks understand why he is hardly mentioned or covered in all those popular blues history books ..
but surely everybody should find out about the Blue Memphis Suite.
